The heavy equipment has been brought in. These machines will be used to grind, vacuum, and polish our concrete floors to a clean, modern look in the Parish Hall and Narthex.
After just a day’s worth of work removing the overlay we had, you can start to see what the floors will look like. The aggregate (or small rocks that are in the concrete) is starting to show through. The floors will be ground many times with finer and finer grit and finally polished to a durable, reflective finish that resists scratching and staining.
Also, this week the majority of the painting was finished with touch-ups to come after the floors are done. The handrail into the Nave was painted to match the Narthex rails. And finally, the stucco wall in the hallway was given a skim coat to mask the repair where the door was removed and make it look more like the regular walls in that area.
