Youth Formation

In our SPY ministry, we prepare our youth for the future while empowering them to do ministry now. The students in SPY have served in cities across our country on mission trips and in Collin County on day trips. They serve at St. Peter’s helping with the children’s ministries, 2×2, music ministries, and worship ministries. We also provide our students with opportunities to grow in their relationship with Jesus while at the same time offering them a safe place to ask questions. We have a lot of fun along the way.

Jr.  and Sr. High Youth meet at 10:10 a.m. in Room 6 each Sunday morning for Christian formation. All youth are welcome to join at any time.

Jr. High SPY is for students in 6th-8th grades. We meet at 5:45 on Wednesdays for dinner, games, a faith building time, and prayer. We also enjoy service opportunities and fun activities as scheduled throughout the year.

Sr. High SPY is for students in 9th – 12th grades. We meet at 5:45 on Wednesdays for dinner, games, a faith building time, and prayer. We also enjoy service opportunities and fun activities as scheduled throughout the year.

Mission Trips are one of the ways our youth share Jesus’ love and care with those who need a little extra help in life. We have worked with people who are homeless, have special needs, are food insecure, or whose parents are deployed. We’ve traveled to San Francisco, New Orleans, San Antonio, Washington DC, Dallas, New York City, Austin, and we’ve stayed right here in McKinney. We enjoy exploring a city’s culture whether it be walking through Chinatown, exploring Ellis Island, or eating beignets. Mission trips are also an opportunity for us to worship and pray together.

Confirmation is not a rite of passage to be done at a particular age but a call to be answered when a student is ready to confirm his or her commitment to be a follower of Jesus. The intent of the camp is for students to explore and question before making that commitment. During camp students will have the opportunity to learn about the Bible, the creeds and our beliefs, the Book of Common Prayer, the sacraments, Church history and much more. With this background, they are able to ask questions and even find answers. Students are strongly encouraged to attend the youth Christian formation classes on Sunday mornings at 10:10 a.m.
