We can learn a lot about how to pray by looking at how Jesus prayed. The longest and most detailed prayer of Jesus is found in John 17 and is known as the ‘High Priestly Prayer.’ In it, Jesus prays for his disciples, and for all who will follow after them, knowing that he is going to the Cross. Two characteristics stand out: intimacy and discipline. We need both in our prayer life – intimacy because prayer is about a relationship with God, and discipline because it’s something we need to do daily in order to build that relationship. Evaluate your prayer life this week and make some changes to help you get closer to God.
