Authority, Love, and Healing

When Jesus is teaching in the synagogue, a man with an unclean spirit cries out. Jesus, with great authority, casts out the demon and in doing so, frees the man, restores his relationships, his ability to earn a living, his mind, and control of his impulses. Jesus uses his authority to heal the man. His authority is not used to benefit himself but to express compassion and love for the possessed man. Jesus uses his authority to free us and heal us.

About The Author

Mtr. Kathy Heitmann is the Associate Rector and Director of Youth Ministries. After graduating from Yale Divinity School, she served churches around the country in many different roles. She loves working with the youth and a wonderful team of youth ministry volunteers. She also enjoys teaching adults, visiting shut-ins, leading mission trips, and much more. Mtr. Kathy has two children in college, and one very energetic black lab.
