When Jesus was young, the holy family fled persecution and lived in Egypt until it was safe to return. Why would God allow his son to be persecuted, or to live as a refugee? Suffering and exile are a fact of life sometimes, but God always brings his people home. Right now, we are living in a bit of a minor exile, distanced from one another and isolated. God will bring us home no matter how far we go, how fast we run, or how isolated we feel. How do we know? Because God has lived it himself, and God always brings his people home.
