Being human means we experience loss, and that loss creates a desert place, a void. Sometimes we experience a void that doesn’t seem to have a direct cause—it’s just there, a gnawing emptiness, a sense of incompleteness, the feeling that something is missing. Where is God when we are standing in the void? Striding toward us. When we meet up, he’ll fill that void with himself—his love, his presence, his forgiveness, his hope.
