The ceiling of our nave resembles the keel of a ship. In fact, the word nave comes from the Latin word for ship. The ship reminds us of Noah’s ark as well as fishing boats on the Sea of Galilee. In both cases, we’re reminded that God is with us when storms come into our lives. As the old hymn says,
O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.
