Mary was confronted with an Angel that told her that she would give birth to the Son of God. And when her cousin, Elizabeth, saw her, she was filled with the Spirit and proclaimed, “Blessed are you among women.” What would it have been like to hear those words? Mary wasn’t the obvious choice to bring the savior into the world. And yet God chose her. She replied in thankful and joyful song, proclaiming that God raises up the lowly and casts down the proud. What needs to be elevated in your life, and what needs to be removed? What is God raising up in you? Pay special attention to those things, and let the rest fall away this Advent.
