Waiting

Each of us comes with some pain and hurt and with a need for healing. What each of us feels is real and no one can deny or convince us that this isn’t so. Yet, even though our “blue” feelings are with us and may even be part of our Christmas, what needs to be even greater than our feelings is the sure and certain promises of our God: The promise that He is with us, the promise that darkness is not all there is, the promise that light always wins over darkness. We are waiting for the celebration of the incarnation – the embodiment of God’s divine love and mercy – Jesus.  This is God’s compassion moving into our tears and our laughter, our joy and our sorrow, our fear and our courage. We wait together.

Dcn. Betty Breyfogle worked for years before her ordination as a nurse in the hospital setting. She cares deeply about health, whether physical or spiritual. She was a parishioner at St. Peter’s before her ordination, and she has served with us 11 years since then. Dcn. Betty is responsible for pastoral care and the Education for Ministry program, and she shares in the clergy preaching and teaching responsibilities.
