When I am feeling like the difficulties in my life are about to take me captive, I like to step outside at night and look up at the stars. When I was a kid I lived in the country and we didn’t have much light pollution. We didn’t even have street lights, at least not one that worked. My Uncle Sonny may have shot it out. Back then, I could stand in the front yard and look up on a clear night and see thousands of stars, may be hundreds of thousands. Sometimes in the summer, I could even see one of the spiraling arms of the Milky Way galaxy. The stars always reminded me that God who loves me and promises to search for me and look after me also created the billions of stars in the Milky Way. My Shepherd is also a mighty creator and king.
It’s the Sunday after Thanksgiving and the Christmas lights are up. Instead of going for a drive to look at the lights, consider driving out to the country and looking up at the stars. Remind yourself that your shepherd is also your mighty king.
