God Frees Us from Life’s Traps

  • September 17, 2017
  • The Rev. Kathy Heitmann
  • Exodus
  • exodus

The Israelites are trapped between Pharoah’s army and the Red Sea. When Moses holds out his hand over the sea, God causes a strong east wind to blow and clear a path through the sea. The Israelites cross the sea and when they step out of the sea bottom, they are free at last. When Jesus holds his arms out on the cross, he is trapped by nails, yet it is a trap he accepts. He understands that that the nails free us from the trap of sin and death. In that trap of nails, Jesus loves us best.
